United States in Poland: The U.S. diplomatic mission in Krakow was established in July 1946, originally as a consulate. In July 1947, the consulate changed status to a consulate general. The consulate temporarily closed in April 1947 but reopened in July 1974. In addition to the United States' consulate general in Krakow, the United States has two other representations in Poland.
